An Immersive Wilderness Culinary Experience
Join us at Mossy Birch Homestead, nestled in the Agassiz Forest of Eastern Manitoba, for a unique gathering that brings together nature, traditional skills, and seasonal dining.
Your experience begins with a traditional smudge and offering to honor the land before heading out on a 30-to-40-minute guided walk. As you forage and take in the forest, you’ll learn to identify, harvest, and respectfully gather easy-to-find edible and medicinal plants.
Upon returning from your walk, we’ll gather together at the homestead to prepare the meal as a group. Working alongside Erica, you'll gain hands-on experience cooking and baking over the fire using wild mushrooms, forest herbs, floral syrups, and fermented drinks. Before we sit down to eat, we will prepare a spirit plate together to give thanks and honor the ancestors and spirits of the land.
Together, we’ll share the 6-course feast at our outdoor dining table, where Erica will discuss the preparation methods for each dish. Every guest will also receive a takeaway booklet featuring all the day's recipes. To ground the experience, an Elder or Knowledge Keeper will close our time together by sharing traditional teachings, wisdom, and stories.
