Our
Story
Long before the modern conversation around clean beauty, generations of Indigenous and Métis women cultivated and foraged Manitoba’s forests, riverbanks, and prairies for food and medicine. Guided by ancestral teachings, they held the knowledge of which wild botanicals could unlock physical healing and spiritual balance. Today, Mossy Birch Homestead honors this rich lineage. As a proud Métis, disabled-woman-owned business rooted in Manitoba, we blend cultural traditions with conscious formulation. Our luxury skincare and botanical lines use sustainably harvested, wildcrafted organic plants to restore, balance, and deeply condition the skin.
We extend this ancestral connection beyond the botanical offerings through our land-based gatherings. In our Forage & Feast classes, we invite you into the fresh air to harvest wild ingredients and share a seasonal, earth-centered meal. In our hands-on Make & Take workshops, you will learn to safely blend your own custom botanical skincare. Every small-batch creation and every class is a testament to resilience, a celebration of heritage, and an invitation to reconnect with the healing power of the land.
Rooted in the Land: A Métis Inheritance
As Métis and Indigenous peoples of Manitoba, the land is our ancestral anchor. For generations, our people have walked these prairies, rivers, and boreal forests—not as owners of the soil, but as an extension of it.
At Mossy Birch Homestead, stewardship is our way of being. Our practices are guided by the spirit of reciprocity: we take only what we need, leave the root intact, and ensure the ecosystem thrives for generations to come.
Every small-batch tea we blend, every serum we infuse, and every skill we share is an invitation to heal our relationship with the earth.
Come walk with me to reconnect with the earth. Let us listen to the protocols of the land, and wildcraft a meaningful path back to nature together.
About MBH Founder, Erica Lindell

Herbalism is about Nature & connection to the land: Gather, learn, grow.
Growing up, my parents taught me how the land provides—from wild plants and medicines to hunting and harvesting. Today, as a student of Herbalism and Indigenous Medicines, I use that lifelong knowledge to wildcraft a custom line of skincare, salves, and teas from native plants.
Mossy Birch Homestead is a Métis woman-owned business rooted in Indigenous values. I live what I teach, whether I'm gardening, foraging, or crafting. My goal is to help you slow down, learn self-sufficiency, and build a respectful relationship with the earth.
Come with me to reconnect with the earth. Let us walk together, listen to the protocols of the land, and discover how to make your own path back to nature
